"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver" - Solomon
The Big Prayer Chain is effective because of the large number of faithful prayer
warriors around the world who pray for the needs sent in each day. So to make
the prayer chain more enjoyable for them to read, we've
compiled a list of some basic editorial guidelines for everyone to follow when writing
a prayer request description. While these editorial guidelines are not strictly
enforced, our moderators do reserve the right to edit or even reject any prayer request that is
blatantly ill-formed.
Basic Editorial Guidelines:
- Please make sure your spelling is correct.
- Please use proper punctuation and grammar.
- Please do not type your entire prayer request in ALL CAPS.
- Please make sure it is clear in your prayer request description who you are requesting
prayer for.
- Please adequately describe your prayer request and use as much of the available
space as possible.
- Do not use abbreviated words, such as "Plz pray for me & my mom w/cancer 2 b
healed, thx." The only exception to this rule is that you may abbreviate the names
of people if you wish.
- Do not use special characters as abbreviations, or in ways other than how they are supposed to be used.
For example, do not say: "Pray for me to have confidence @ my school rehearsal tomorrow."
- We recommend that you use a good call-to-action phrase, to help everyone become
motivated to pray for you. Don't merely say: "I'm not feeling good today. I want to feel
better." Think of creative ways
to call everyone to prayer, such as "Please seek the Lord for me", or "Call upon
Jesus". Try not to always use common call-to-action phrases such as "please
pray". Remember that many unsaved people also see the prayer chain every day, and
your call-to-prayer phrase may inspire them!
- At BigPrayerChain.com we are filled with expectation that God will do great and
mighty miracles, signs, and wonders in the lives of those who visit this website.
So with that in mind, pray like you expect something good! Do
not post a prayer request with words such as: "Please pray for Ashley,
13 years old, dieing of cancer, that God take her home with less misery." We will
edit or
delete such prayer requests. You could instead say: "Please pray
for Ashley, 13 years old with terminal cancer, that God will completely heal her."
